My Daemon

I love Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series, and just got wind that the movie is coming up.  The official site is:

It allows you to find out who your daemon is.  Mine turns out to be a handsome lion Remis.   I love my daemon. Now I really really wish that I have a daemon around so I can give him a good hug. Interestingly I am a Leo, so I guess he’s mine!

Heading for BookCrossing Convention

Looking at my carry-ons, I realized that I had never travelled with so many books.  I mean, god forbid, if the plane got hijacked, I would have enough books to keep me contended for a month or two.  I could even start an on-flight library and keep all hostages happy, while the governments work things out.

Baby Voodoo!

My best find at the Anime Supercon! Though now I’ve seen them, I remember reading about them somewhere in a newspaper.

They are just super cute.  I had a hard time deciding which one to get, and Wendy and I both thought it a bit pricy for a small ball of string… (not to mention my darling hubby) They didn’t even bother to say anything about sustaining starving tribes in Thailand, to justify the ridiculous price.

Anyway, I just couldn’t resist myself and got one as the guy was packing up while the convention closed. And now I kinda wish I had gotten more.  They are available online, although it’s definitely more fun picking your own in the color you like.

Anyway, here’s my first voodoo, Aladdin.

Anime Supercon

It’s been a long while since I attended an anime con.  Usually if I go,  90% of the time I would look at something and thought, I can get it a lot less in Hong Kong or Taiwan!  So it just doesn’t make sense for me to pay $ to spend even more $$ to buy something I can get for less.

However, my friend Wendy happened to mention that she needs volunteers for her booth, as she was hosting several panels at the event.  Her generous offer to lend me her costume, plus the chance to visit the convention free, were definitely enough incentives.

Here are some pics from the event.

It’s this super kawaii?!  Hand made, stitch by stitch, by Wendy.   This little guy was adopted by a guy in Yaoi T shirt.  If you want one, visit

Boy was she popular with the guys.  A very nice hand made costume.  I guess I’ll like cosplay more if I were better with my needlework!

Cute Gothic Lolita and Lolita.

The moment I saw him (actually it’s a her) I was like, I wanted a picture!

Cute Gothic Lolita

And a girl in cute Gothic Lolita dress. : )  Thanks Wendy!
